Tool of the Week
March 25th, 2007 by documof
I was having a good time deciding between Manny Ramirez and Tony LaRussa for this past week’s Tool of the Week. I did a little bit more research into both stories. It turns out that Manny Rameriz’s “grill” actually wasn’t his, and he was doing a neighbor a favor. Naturally, there were tons of bogus bids and EBay closed out the auction because “it couldn’t authenicate if it was actually Manny Rameriz’s grill or not”. It’s not like Manny needs the extra money anyway. He’s probably one of the most overpaid players in the league. I was reading or heard something about Manny being the worst left fielder in the league.
On the flipside of things, this time the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals was arrested for DUI while he was asleep in his vehicle, while it was running. I’m not sure what’s worse, the fact he was arrested for DUI, or he was passed out in his vehicle. If it hadn’t been running he they probably wouldn’t had cared so much, but just because it was started, he was Driving Under the Influence. Naturally this mugshot showed up on TheSmokingGun.com. I think this is what won it for him, and also I’m sure that Manny will be nominated many more times this season, and will win numerous times this season.

I’m not quite sure what was going through his head. He had a game the following day, and completed one that same day. Is life that bad for him that he needs to go out and over do it with the alcoholic beverages? His team won the World Series this past season; He has two of the best players in the league with Albert Pujols, and Cris Carpenter. They have good young talent, but he still chooses to do this? It’s a bad move on his part, and he probably took a big hit to his image whether he likes it or not.
Last week I went through my whole thoughts on over doing the alcohol, so I feel that It won’t be necessary to cross that bridge again. This just makes me think even less about Tony LaRussa. If he can’t make good decisions with his own actions, how can he manage a baseball team effectively? I think a lot of this opinion has deal with myself being such a die-hard Cubs fan, and I’ll have a Cardinal win the Tool of the Week, as many times as the players allow me to do as such.
I felt as much to start a new thing with this weeks award. With any award they deserve something to commerate this special occasion. This week as you can see, I’ve given LaRussa a crown to officially mark him Baseball Whammy’s Tool of the Week. Congrats Mr. LaRussa, you’ve really earned this one. I mean this in the nicest possible way, for your boneheaded decision.
The crown is a nice touch :)
Manny can still hit though.
Yes Manny can still slug the ball, but his definately a liability on the field.
Manny is Manny! He looks like a homeless person this spring.
