I really wish that Cubs coach Lou Piniella would just make up his mind about what to do with the Cubs rotation and bullpen. It’s obvious the the bullpen needs to have a lot of work done with it. Both Bob Howry and Scott Eyre have been pitching HORRIBLE thus far this season. Neither have been worth the big reliever dollars that they were paid to do so last season. Neal Cotts started off really well, and has been horrible as of late. Will Ohman had rough start, but has gotten a lot better. Micheal Wuertz has a really good start, but hasn’t been as effective as of late even though his ERA is only 1 something. That leaves Ryan Dempster as the closer. He’s a been fairly effective closing out 9 out of his first 10 opportunities. The one save he did blow was a heart wrenching loss. He’s had a few problems with some non-save appearances as well.

This takes me to where Lou Pinella has been a little hairy with what he wants to do. First, they announce that Dempster is coming out of the pen to become their fifth starter, and that Angel Guzman is going to…

I was just reading Sports Illustrated’s MLB Truth and Rumors section on their site (Found Here), and it’s saying that there is a little bit of buzz that BoSox are considering seeing if a Manny for Ichiro trade will work.

Here is the excerpt from the New York Post:

There is a lot of July talk again about the Red Sox trading Manny Ramirez, and the buzz becomes louder with Seattle considering moving free-agent-to-be Ichiro Suzuki.

Thinking about this trade, if I we’re in the Red Sox organization, I think it would be a no-brainer to try to get his trade to go through. It’s pretty obvious that the Mariners won’t resign him because either A) they can’t afford Ichiro, or B) they could get top notch prospects for him, or bring back another big name player. I think option A is the likely option. The Mariners haven’t have any real big money players in town, and their last big expenditures were flops in Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre. Although Ichiro is one of the better leadoffs in the league, I’m not sure they would invest huge money in him.

On the flipside for the Sox, you…

So I’ve read a few reports that the Yankees are looking at getting Jacque Jones from the Cubs because their rookie outfielder, Melky Cabrera, has been having some troubles as of late.

I kinda think this would be a catch 22 for both teams in all honestly. Sure, Jones has been very hot for the Cubs the last two months, but he had a HORRID start, and who’s not to say that he’ll go back to that again after the break with Derrek Lee returning back next week. The Yankees have been known to take the hot player of the time, and they turn out to be junk for them most of the time *cough* Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright, Kevin Brown *cough*. They just go out and buy their players. You can gaurentee that Jones won’t be around after Sheffield and Matsui get healthy again. They are the big men at the corners, and nobody is going to be able to change that, let alone a average to average plus player in Jones.

Felix Pie isn’t ready to play in the Big Show yet, but he will be one of the September callups for the Cubbies. It would all depend on what…
