My name is Charlie and I love the game of baseball. I currently reside in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and I’ve been playing and watching baseball my entire life. My late grandfather raised me up to be a Chicago Cubs fan, because it was his favorite team.

In the past few years, I’ve begun to follow Major League Baseball more closely. I’m excited to read the headlines everyday, even during the offseason. It’s always a joy to see which teams make the big trades or sign the best free agent. The minute The World Series is won, by usually not my Cubbies, I began looking forward to next season. I’m not sure if this is a natural Cub’s fan reaction because, they have been saying “There’s always next year” pretty much my entire life.

I developed a good set of analytical skills in college that carried over to my current job, as web developer. I’m always in the mindset that, “how can I make this better”. I think this is helping develop some baseball analytical skills as well. I’ve begun paying attention to player stats more closely, and how they affect the team.

What I want to do here at baseballwhammy.com is to express my opinions on current events happening in the MLB. I always have thought I’d be great to be a baseball analyst/writer like Peter Gammons or Harold Reynolds. The great power of the internet now allows pretty much anybody to accomplish this.

Also being in the Information Technology field, I’m constantly learning about new technologies and practices, so if you have a comment on how I can make baseballwhammy.com better, feel free to drop me a line via the contact form.
